Stratospheric Warming Event Causes Russian Chill

An immense stratospheric warming event will cause emergence of intense arctic air over Central Russia. Will this air mass widen and stretch to North America? For the moment, the evidence is against that possibility.

Is The Atlantic Multi-decadal Oscillation Changing?

The November 2018 Atlantic multi-decadal oscillation was one of the coolest monthly observations during the last 20 years which otherwise has featured mostly very warm values. Is the warm cycle of the AMO about to change phase? If so prevailing climate changes (drier summers over crop areas) across North America and Europe are likely. Lowering number of hurricanes, given a cooler North Atlantic would also occur.

In Late 2018 U.S. Soil Moisture is Much Wetter/European Drought Continues/South Africa Drought Strengthens

The global soil moisture trend during the past 3 months brought historic wet changes to Texas, the Midwest U.S. and parts of the East U.S. In Europe drought intensified and expanded eastward while Australian drought weakened slightly. In South Africa the latest drought condition strengthened while northern Argentina into central Brazil turned wetter.
