Highlight: Searing heat Europe, some rain for the U.S. AG Belt, nearby chill to Brazil coffee this week.

Discussion: Searing heat remains in the forecast for Europe during the last 10 days of June (Fig. 1). The hot weather episode is hotter than 2 recent events (6/18 and 5/26). Paris, France is above 100F all week (Fig. 2). The 15-day forecasts are very dry and hot (Fig. 3-4) accelerating drought concerns. Climate signals indicate the heat should ease in the 11-15-day period.

The U.S. Drought Monitor indicates 72% of the U.S. is affected by dry-to-drought soil conditions, down slightly from recent weeks. The daily U.S. soil moisture anomalies analysis reveals the harshest drought is in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and the Mid-Atlantic region (Fig. 5). The 10-day (ECM ENS) percent of normal rainfall indicates much needed precipitation is ahead for the Great Plains to New England stretch although (generally) missing the Mid-Atlantic States (Fig. 6).

In Brazil, a chilly air mass this week with risk of <32F very close to southern coffee areas for at least 3 mornings this week (Fig. 7). In Australia, wet weather appears in the 8-=14-day period (Fig. 8).
