U.S. Medium-range Forecast: Staying warm!

Chart of the day: Low demand late season HDD forecast. Discussion: U.S. gas population weight HDD forecast through mid-March maintains a (very) low national heating demand. Medium-range 6-10 Day Forecast Valid February 28-March 3, 2024 (24-hour change right) Discussion: Northwestern North America is in the arctic air, cross polar from Siberia. However, south of the arctic air, the U.S. stays warm. Increasing snow cover biases the Southern Canada forecast less warm. The forecast is slightly cooler in the Great Plains. U.S. Medium-range Precipitation Forecast Discussion: The Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region and the Southeast States, particularly Florida is stormy throughout the medium range. Storminess into the West U.S. continues through the 6-10-day period abating in the 11-15-day forecast. Days 16-20 Extended range Temperature Forecast valid March 9-13, 2024 Discussion: Prohibitive warmth remains in the extended-range forecast with a storm track expanding across the entire U.S.
