Discussion: Last week, much of Europe was arid as drought continues to strengthen. The 7-day outlook brings some relief with 2 (or more) inches of rain forecast for South-central Europe north-eastward to the Baltic region. Dryness and anomalous heat dominate to the east including Ukraine and Southwest Russia.

Week-2 Ahead (August 23-30, 2026): Finally, some widespread rain.

Discussion: Upper trough elongates across Western Europe delivery widespread rain and cooler temperatures. Anomalous heat continues in the Black Sea region.

Week-3 Ahead (August 30-September 6, 2026): Wet weather continues to suppress heat risk.

Discussion: Upper trough stays anchored over U.K. Wet weather continues although South Coastal Europe is drier. Wet weather extends to Western Europe.
