Discussion: The first month of meteorological summer 2025 was 7th warmest on record across the U.S. (Fig. 1). MUCH ABOVE normal temperature was observed in 19 states, essentially the West U.S., Northeast States, and Florida. Rhode Island observed their 2nd hottest June on record while West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware ranked in the top five all-time warmest. Only 4 states (North and South Dakota, Kansas, and Oklahoma) were not warmer than normal during June. June 2025 was the 33rd wettest on record with 20 states receiving ABOVE normal rainfall (Fig. 2). Historically, the wettest ranking state was Alabama followed by Oklahoma. The West Coast was MUCH BELOW normal with Washington observing their 3rd driest June on record. Southern New England was drier than normal.
