Climate Impact Company Week 2-4 Outlook

Europe/Western Russia

Issued: Tuesday August 4, 2026

Highlight: Most of August stays dry and hot South/West Europe.

Charts of the day: The Europe drought and ongoing dry weather pattern.

Discussion: The super drought covering much of Europe continues to expand during early August. During the past week, very little rainfall was observed across the southern 2/3 of Europe including the immediate Black Sea region.

Week-2 Ahead (August 9-16, 2026): Widespread dryness; Southern Europe staying hot.

Discussion: Consistently one of the best “weeklies” forecasters for Europe, the GFS ENS maintains the -SCAND Northwest Eurasia trough pushing the Europe heatwave southward while Northern Europe is cool. Unfortunately, widespread dryness continues.

Week-3 Ahead (August 16-23): Southern Europe stays hot and mostly dry.

Discussion: The heat is less aggressive but continues across Southern Europe with mostly drier than normal climate persisting.

Week-4 Ahead (August 23-30): Some rain possible South-coastal Europe.

Discussion: ECM is utilized and identifies a low latitude low pressure causal to wet weather risk to South Coastal Europe while dryness will persist across Eastern Europe. The general very warm to hot pattern for Southern Europe persists with high humidity.
