Highlight: Regenerating heat/dryness across southern half of Europe ahead.
Discussion: Southern Europe heat rebuilds during late calendar summer. ECM ENS indicates vigorous warm temperature anomalies during the next 15 days (Fig. 1) which include widespread 95F/35C risk for Southwest and Southeast Europe. Northern Europe is wet, including much of Northern U.K. while within the heat zone, dryness prevails (Fig. 2). The northern portion of the Europe drought zone has weakened due to recent rains with more on the way (Fig. 3). However, much of the drought zone stays intact and intensifies during September. The ECM 16-30-day outlook is reluctant to end the very warm and mostly dry Southern Europe regime (Fig. 4).
