Highlight: Notable Eastern Europe cold spike of HDD during January.

Discussion: Europe East selected cities (Berlin, Munich, Vienna, and Milan) observed an exceptionally cold January with HDD count averaging 13% colder than normal while Europe West selected cities (Glasgow, Heathrow, Paris, Dusseldorf, and Berlin) were much closer to normal (Fig. 1). The outlook for FEB-26 is slightly colder than normal East and near normal West and in between the 30-year/10-year normal for March. Europe West monthly HDD has remarkably followed last winter seasons (monthly) character (Fig. 2) while JAN-26 is markedly colder than the past 2 winter seasons for Eastern Europe (Fig. 3).
