Climate Impact Company Daily Report

Issued: Thursday July 9, 2026

Highlight: June was warmer and wetter than normal in U.S.

Discussion: June 2026 ranked 28th warmest in the 132-year historical record (Fig. 1). The anomalous warmth was motivated by MUCH ABOVE normal across the southwest quadrant of the U.S., Northeast Corridor Coast, and Florida. Only Montana was slightly cooler than normal. The ongoing intense marine heatwave off the southwest coast of North America continues to provide the warm temperature bias to the Southwest U.S. while a much warmer western North Atlantic basin helped the East Coast shift warmer.

June 2026 was a wet month. While warm SSTA helps to warm the climate, the increased low-level atmosphere moisture helps to inspire wetter weather patterns. June 2026 ranked 15th wettest in the 132-year historical record (Fig. 2). MUCH ABOVE normal rainfall was observed in Kansas, the Midwest States, and Alabama. General dryness was observed on each coast.
