Discussion: The NOAA observed U.S. gas population weight HDD for NOV-24 was 466 (Fig. 1). The value is somewhat warmer than the 2000-24 normal and the 10-year normal. NOV-24 ranked tied for 3rd warmest since 2000. The warmest November this century was in 2001 (421 HDD). Going forward, the U.S. gas population weight HDD is near or slightly colder than the 2000-24 normal. The DEC-24 HDD forecast increases slightly due to the very cold start of the month in the East to 857 HDD’s which ranks 12th coldest this century. The JAN-25 forecast increases slightly to 926 HDD’s ranking 16th coldest this century. FEB-25 is cold in the West but warm in the high energy demand East and is unchanged at 789 HDD’s ranking 13th coldest this century. MAR-25 is adjusted slightly colder to 628 HDD’s ranking 14th coldest this century. Overall, the NOV-MAR 2024-25 U.S. gas population weight HDD ranks 15th coldest this century (Fig. 2).
