Discussion: Verification for July 2024 CDD for selected Europe cities were, on average, warmer than forecast. The strongest (warm) anomalies were in Vienna and Milan although Paris, Berlin, and Munich were each moderately warmer than normal.

In July, the Europe-West CDD were at the 10-year normal and exactly in-between the warm 2022 and cool 2023 observations (Fig. 1). Meanwhile, the Europe-East CDD were much warmer than normal in July (Fig. 2).

The August forecast keeps Europe-West near the 10-year normal while Europe-East stays warmer than normal.
