Discussion: January 2024 looks like a snowy and cold month across the U.S. However, December 2023 produced the second lowest North America snow cover in the 1966-2023 climatology. The least snowy December was in 1980 which was a brutally cold month across Canada and the Northeast U.S. but moisture starved limiting snowfall.

Discussion: The 6-10-day forecast continues to combine the GFS and ECM and the forecast trend since yesterday is colder. Arctic air is vividly projected across the Northern Rockies and the Great Plains trend is colder.

Discussion: The 11-15-day forecast is slightly colder mainly due to a stronger arctic air signature in the Alberta to Great Plains stretch. California also trends cooler.
