April 2020: Climate rankings for the U.S. were near normal in April (Fig. 1-2). However, details reveal that normal was the average of cool and dry extremes across the Central U.S. and warmth in the West while the East was wet. A broad cool regime extended across the North-central/Midwest U.S. while Florida was exceptionally warm and the West also moderately warm for mid-spring. The East and Southeast U.S. was the wet zone while Great Plains dryness persisted.
