Category 4 Tropical Cyclone Marcus spun out of an increasingly active MJO across Indonesia and more tropical cyclone activity is ahead.

A look at MJO and Australia: The MJO has been inactive recently but is starting to show signs of life across Indonesia and points east in the West Pacific tropics. Strong tropical waves are emerging. Category 4 Tropical Cyclone Marcus was generated by the evolving MJO. The next system is about to develop just off the north coast of Australia then drift south-southeast while developing and likely to strike the northwest coast of Queensland later this weekend
